Club News and Updates

August 10, 2020

Parents, Players, Families and Friends,

Please read carefully as this contains important information on our current status, operational plans and billing policies.

  • We resumed practices in late June that are deemed appropriate by the current State and Local guidelines.
  • We secured a lease on the fields at Granite Park. We plan on continuing this until we have access to our normal fields.
  • Our Directors and Coaches have worked diligently to ensure that all teams have been completed and that you have been placed on a team.
  • We are waiting on the proper authorities as to when any League or Tournament competitions will take place.
  • Since we have resumed practices you must follow the registration procedures below. This will insure that your child is registered and insured.

Thank you for completing the initial part of the registration process. Due to the concerns surrounding Covid-19 we offered the initial registration for our Club at no cost to all of our players. We are now at the time when the registration has to be completed and finalized. For a detailed explanation on our fee structure during this year under Covid-19 please click here:  or if your browser does not support this, please copy and paste the following link; http://www.californiaodyssey.org/registration/fee-structure.

Due to the nature of the upcoming season we have split the registration fee into two equal payments of $175.00. The first is due when you complete the registration and the second will be due on February 1, 2021. Your $75.00 monthly Club dues will begin on September 1, 2020. If for any reason we are unable to practice due to State or Local restrictions there will be no charges for that month. Fees that are already paid for services rendered are not refundable.

Communication from the Region 7 Advisory Committee:

“Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, Region 7 NorCal Member Clubs have agreed that there will be no 2020/21 season tryouts for all ages. Region 7 Clubs are encouraged to re-register their current membership from June 6 to June 29. There will be a “transfer window” from June 30 to July 20 for any NorCal player who is not currently registered for the 2020/21 season and wishes to move from one NorCal Member Club to another NorCal Member Club... Players who signed a US Club Registration for the 2020-21 season will be required to get DOC permission before another NorCal Member Club is able make any contact or communication with them (as outlined in the “Outside the NorCal transfer window“ Recruiting definition).

NorCal Code of Ethics “Recruiting” Definition (Updated May 2020)

Outside the NorCal Transfer Window:  "Recruiting" refers to making any contact or communication with a player who is registered with another NorCal club, in which the player is asked or allowed to join a club, attend a tryout or club training session, or play or guest play for another club, without first receiving permission from the Director of Coaching of the player's club.

Inside the NorCal Transfer Window:  "Recruiting" refers to making an initial or first contact or communication with a player who is registered with another NorCal club, in which the player is asked or allowed to join a club, attend a tryout or club training session, or guest play for another club, without first receiving permission from the Director of Coaching of the player's club.

Note:  Players do not need DOC permission to contact other clubs during the Transfer Window, and Adult members are permitted to respond to such contacts during the Transfer Window, without requesting permission from the player's DOC.”

As things continue to solidify we will continue to communicate with you on a regular basis. Should you have any questions please feel free to communicate with our Directors and the office via email.

April 22, 2020

Odyssey Parents, Players and Families,

We just want to reach out to all of you with the hopes that you are all doing your best to navigate the precarious position we find ourselves in amidst this pandemic.  None of us have experienced such a thing in our lives and we hope we never again the rest of our lives.  Soccer has taken a back seat to life here however; we need to navigate how we are moving forward.

US Club Soccer, our governing body gives us guidelines to follow based on the most current recommendations from CDC and the local health departments.  Even though our region has not been impacted as severely as other NorCal regions, the barometer that will be used to determine resumption will be based on what’s going on in Northern California which has a majority of the NorCal teams.  As of today 4-22, the NorCal Spring season has been officially cancelled. This includes U8-U10 Regional Spring Leagues, U11-U19 Spring League, U14-U19 State Cup, National Premier League & State Premier League

At this point in time there are no definitive answers to when we will return to organized soccer activities.  As we receive information we will pass it on to you in a timely manner.

March 24, 2020

Odyssey Parents, Players and Families,

Due to the uncertainty of and out of an abundance of caution relating to the Covis-19 virus, Cal Odyssey is extending the cancellation of all soccer activities until the proper authorities have declared the emergency measures lifted and it is safe for you and your children to resume activities.  This includes but is not limited to practices, games, tournaments and any group related functions including the scheduled Annual General Meeting. At this time we do not have an estimated time when that will be. We do know that the earliest date possible that currently exists is 4-13-2020. However, that date could be optimistic and is not definitive.

The Cal Odyssey Board of Directors has decided that there will be no monthly dues for Club fees charged during this period of inactivity. This means that Cal Odyssey is in the process of reviewing each family’s account that we have on file and will be adjusting your billing accounts. All accounts will be credited one (1) months of dues. For those that are paid in full you will receive a refund via the current payment method that you have on file. For those that are on schedule but not complete we will remove the last payment that is on your schedule. For those that are on payment plans we will revise the plan to reflect the fee reduction.

This does not mean that you will not have a payment due for this month or in the months to come. It does mean that each one of you will receive the appropriate credit applied to your account and the billing will be adjusted accordingly and fairly.

Sincerely,

Cal Odyssey

Board of Directors
