Professional Athletes and Olympians Tee Off to Support Youth Soccer
EYE-QBuilding Champions for Life Pro Athlete and Olympian Golf Tournament
What Does U. S. Olympian and World Cup Champion Brandi Chastain and Undefeated World Champion Boxer Jenifer Alcorn have in common? On Monday, May 17 they join together—along with 10 Professional Athletes, Olympians and more than 144 players—to raise funds and awareness for California Odyssey Soccer Club in the “EYE-QBuilding Champions for Life! Pro Athlete Golf Tournament” at San Joaquin Country Club in Fresno, California.
Odyssey was founded in 2002 by a group of Central Valley soccer enthusiasts to develop a premier program to train tomorrow’s soccer professionals. With more than 150,000 kids in the Valley playing soccer, Odyssey recognized the incredible untapped talent right here in our own backyard. Odyssey knew they had the makings to build a world-class soccer program and this propelled them to act. Today, Odyssey is on a mission to build champions for life. Since its inception, Odyssey has grown to include more than 600 players. It’s a member of the prestigious U.S. Soccer Federation’s Development Academy Program and has received the elite Nike Premier Club distinction. The “EYE-QBuilding Champions for Life! Pro Athlete Golf Tournament” is a community effort designed to promote this exceptional program.
“The athletes and players participating in this event are encouraging the youth of our community through their example—the outpouring of support is tremendous,” said Scott Bridgeman, Honorary Event Chair and EYE-Q Chief Executive Officer. “Whether it’s a child chasing a dream or a player at the top of his or her game, becoming a champion in lifeis a goal every athlete can strive for.”
