Coach Mike has been immersed in soccer for over 40 years. He was born here in Fresno and began his soccer career in elementary school as a goalkeeper. He continued to play through high school at Clovis High and through local club soccer all the way through men’s premier. At the age of 34, Mike began his officiating career and has refereed through all levels of club, high school and college soccer throughout central California. Soccer has been a passion and a constant positive influence in Mike’s life and several years ago he felt compelled to give back to the sport and to the future of soccer in our community by beginning his coaching career. Mike has coached youth; recreational, indoor, outdoor, and as of 2007, competitive soccer. Mike was the honored Coach of the 2007 Odyssey boys U10 Gunners, 2008 U10 boys White team, 2009 U11 boys White team, 2010 U12 boys White team, and the 2011 U11 boys Red team. All these teams enjoyed steady positive growth throughout their seasons.
Mike has had several years of awesome mentoring from some of soccer’s finest coaches. He is a firm believer that offense wins games while defense wins championships. Dedicated to developing a strong technical foundation to prepare young players for the best opportunities to succeed as they grow and develop throughout their Odyssey years. Mike currently holds a State ‘D’ coaching license.
During the day, Mike is a lenticular printer for Big 3D.com. His other passion is the printing industry, which he also began very young in life at his father’s printing company. After work and on weekends Mike’s time is spent with soccer and his family. Mike has been married for twenty-eight years and has two children. A daughter, Meghan who is also a college level soccer referee and former youth girls coach, as well as the former office administrator for CJSL. She has currently earned her Medical Assistant degree. His son, Matthew began his Odyssey career with the U11 team in 2003 and advanced through Odyssey’s National Development Academy teams. He is currently playing at the collegiate level for San Jacinto College in Houston Texas. Mike’s wife Leisa, has been an Odyssey team manager since 2004 and is currently managing multiple Odyssey teams. The Dishno family is proud of their soccer heritage and their Odyssey family.
